Cliff Timpson, Volcanic Slopes of Deception Island (LANDSCAPE 2025)

Deception Island is one of the most incredible islands on the planet. It is the caldera of an active volcano in the South Shetland Islands, off the Antarctic Peninsula. Its unique landscape comprises barren volcanic slopes, steaming beaches and ash-layered glaciers. The island has two research stations, active only during summer. One by Spain, Gabriel de Castilla (pictured) and the other by Argentina.
