Danielle Fitzgerald, Venus 8 (PEOPLE 2025)
Since beginning Venus 8 in 2022, I have moved through strip clubs, locker rooms, and backstage spaces with workers across Western Australia. My drive to document comes from the erasure and misrepresentation of workers’ in both historical and current representation, and a determination to platform these stories within contemporary art and visual culture. My practice is rooted in solidarity and collaboration, advocating for the recognition of workers’ rights while resisting the censorship and stigma that attempt to silence the community. Working closely with my co collaborators, we explore transformation, labour, and resilience. In this climate, my lens becomes both resistance and rebellion.
