Geoffrey Dew, Time Machine (SINGLE SHOT 2025)

The Bond Store has been a constant part of Tasmanian life ever since it began construction in 1826: first as a warehouse to facilitate industry and commence, and now repurposed as a gallery space within the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery. On the outside of the storied brick walls is an old cargo lift, its rusted wheels and splintered beams encapsulating the working life of the building. But when seen in black and white the textures in every single piece of timber, stone and metal become tactile, and its age is both alluded to and hidden: this lift looks ready to carry sacks of wool and grain again.
