Kim Petersen, The Tail of an Owl's Lunch (ANIMAL & NATURE 2025)

Owls are very fond of mice for lunch! Owls are called raptors or birds of prey, which means they use their sharp talons and beaks to hunt, kill and eat other animals. Sadly, many owls in Australia die by eating mice and rats that have ingested baits and poison intended to keep mouse plagues at bay. Luckily, there are programs in place to encourage famers to use Barn Owls as natural pretors to keep mice populations under control. This owl enjoyed his lunch and I'm hoping he gets to enjoy many more.
