Nelson Zambrano, The Silent Art of a Geisha (TRAVEL 2025)
During my trip to Japan, I carried a lifelong dream to see a real Geisha. In recent years, laws and fines have been introduced to protect them, ensuring visitors respect their privacy and art. While exploring Kanazawa, one of Japan’s oldest Geisha districts, I wandered through its quiet streets and wooden houses, admiring the timeless beauty of the place, hoping for a fleeting encounter. Then, through a window, I saw her a graceful Geisha moving between rooms, embodying elegance and tradition. I couldn’t take my eyes away, waiting for another glimpse. For a few precious seconds, she looked at us and offered a gentle smile a moment suspended between respect, culture, and dream. These photographs capture that memory a brief connection with Japan’s living heritage, where art and humanity meet for just a heartbeat.
