Lodi Pertovt, The Road Out of Mosul (TRAVEL 2025)

Mosul is a city marked by deep scars — shaped by years of persecution, conflict, and division. Everyone here has endured loss. Yet within this hardship, these photographs reveal a city slowly healing, where people are rebuilding not only streets and homes, but also trust, connection, and a shared sense of belonging. What remains unseen are the moments after the shutter clicks: the wide, generous smiles, the invitations to share tea, and the genuine warmth extended to a stranger in a place once defined by suffering. The road out of Mosul feels quiet and reflective — a reminder of both the weight of its past and the resilience of its people.
