Ivan Sun, The Mouse and the Dragon (Self-portrait) (PEOPLE 2025)

Dragon and the Mouse are set of three self-portrait with the world's oldest Chinese processional dragon, now in the care of the Golden Dragon Museum in Bendigo. The title alludes to the mythical and astrological connection between the mighty dragon and the small mouse (of which I am one according to Chinese astrology). The appended subtitle of Beauty, Wisdom and Power refers to the dragon attributes I am symbolically taking on as a result of the relationship. Through a number of coincidences I found myself relocated to Bendigo and then connected to the Golden Dragon Museum project, which allowed me to develop a new museum app and produce a documentary film on the topic of the processional dragons. These photographs were taken as part of my personal collection, to celebrate the completion of the museum project.
