NOLA VICKERY, THE LANTERNS OF KEK LOK SI TEMPLE (TRAVEL 2026)

Kek Lok Si Temple (Temple of Supreme Bliss) is the largest Buddhist temple in Malaysia and is located in George Town on Penang Island. For 30 days following each Chinese New Year, over 10,000 red and yellow lanterns adorn every part of this extensive temple. Each one has a tag, representing donations offered by devotees. The lanterns are more than just festive decorations. They reflect centuries-old artistic heritage, beliefs and cultural values passed down through generations.
