Lodi Pertovt, The Inked Women of Iraq (PEOPLE 2025)

Tattooing the daughters of Iraq was once a mark of beauty and pride, but is today considered haram — forbidden and sinful. These women, who still wear their tattoos proudly, are among the last of their kind.
