Daniel Muscat, The Great Egret (ANIMAL & NATURE 2026)

This portfolio captures the behaviour and character of the Great Egret, one of Australia’s striking wetland birds, photographed in the wetlands of Bicentennial Park, Sydney. Across the four images, the egret is shown in moments of stillness, movement and interaction with its surroundings. The portfolio highlights the elegance and personality of this often overlooked wetland bird. Photographing this bird in its natural environment allowed me to observe the contrast between its graceful movements and sudden bursts of activity. Together, the images tell a story of the Great Egret’s life among Sydney’s wetlands and celebrate the beauty of native wildlife within an urban landscape. Shot on my Canon R6 Mark II with a Canon RF 70–200mm f/2.8 lens.
