Reggie Crichton, Sulphur MIner of Kawah Ijen (PEOPLE 2025)

The sulphur miners of Kawah Ijen, a volcano in East Java, mine the sulphur or "devils gold" during the cool of night and in dangerous conditions then carry the loads which can weigh up to 80kgs in baskets balanced on a bamboo pole up to the crater rim. It's extremely hard and dangerous work for very little pay.
