JJ Rao, Spectres of the Night (LANDSCAPE 2025)

Beneath the vast skies of the Kimberley in Western Australia, immense thunderstorms can sometimes create a visual spectacle rarely seen - Red Sprites. In these moments, the landscape transforms: while ancient boabs reach upwards, and wreaths of stormlight graze the grassy plains, the unseen connection between the earth and the stars becomes visible in a sudden burst of crimson light. In less than the blink of an eye, it's gone. This series explores the fragile and unseen dialogue between the Earth and sky, between the grounded and otherworldly. Each frame reveals the hidden bridge between storm and cosmos, a connection without which, we would not exist.
