Roimata Mitchell, Shadows of Baja: Life Between Sea and Sky (ANIMAL & NATURE 2025)
Photographed along the remote coastlines of Baja California, Mexico, this series reflects the wild balance of life at the edge of land and sea. Silhouetted ospreys guard their nest against the fading light, a shorebird scours tidal pools for its next meal, and a lone raptor arcs across the horizon with a fish gripped tightly in its talons. Finally, a flock in perfect formation sweeps across the open water, reminding us of the strength of collective flight. These images are meditations on survival and connection - the solitary and the communal - captured in the elemental palette of sea spray, shifting tide, and golden sky. In Baja, every silhouette tells a story of resilience, written against the vast canvas of ocean and desert light.
