Yoko Sameshima, Seven Centimeters and Thirty Years (PEOPLE 2025)
My daughter tries on the wedding dress I once wore — brought from Japan across thirty years of time and sea. The neckline falls seven centimeters short — a quiet trace of all that has passed. In her eyes, I glimpse both nostalgia and a gentle resolve to begin her life anew in this land. (Captured in my home near Semaphore Beach, South Australia, in the light of the setting sun on October 6, 2025, with a Leica M240.)
