Somdatta Ganguly, Seal Side of the Paradise (ANIMAL & NATURE 2026)

New Zealand Fur Seals at Otago Peninsula, Dunedin. In September 2025, we had quite the adventure getting to these little guys. We went off-road in an all-terrain Argo 8 wheel drive, descending across steep coastal bluffs rising nearly 200 metres above sea level. By the time we made it down, we were completely covered in dust, but these adorable pups made it worthwhile! Just look into their eyes and you will be mesmerised by the sheer innocence. Further along, the adults were peacefully basking on the rocks in the daylight. I would have loved to say “basking in the sun”, but unfortunately, the sun had decided to take the day off! Dust-covered, slightly exhausted, and very happy… I’d say we got a pretty good reward for our adventure!
