Esther Vu, Quiet Systems (PEOPLE 2026)

This series reflects on the quiet individuals whose labour sustains the daily rhythms of hospital care. Through the gestures and routines of a long-serving hospital kitchen worker, the images reveal the human presence behind every meal delivered to patients — acts of preparation that form only one part of a much larger system operating largely out of sight. By focusing on moments of repetition, discipline, and pause, the work considers how years of dedication become embedded within routine, revealing the often-unnoticed commitment that supports care beyond the clinical front line.
