Phillip Leahy, Pingyao Ancient Town (TRAVEL 2026)

Internal tourism in China is enormous. As a result monuments, historical sites have huge number of people visiting them. Pingyao Ancient Town is one of these places. The 10 meter high city walls are largely intact as are many of the buildings inside the walls. At night the main thoughfare resembles a carnival atmosphere with colored lights, bars, food shops and trinket venders vying for your attention.
