This a series of images of Eco Foxes taken on the Shiretoko Peninsula in Hokkaido. In order to survive the foxes need to scavenge for food. the male pictured had found a carcass on the shore. They also need to persuade a vixen to mate within the 3 day period that she is on heat. The vixen that was located on the top of nets left from the previous year on top of an artificial sea wall Despite making screams and wails to attract the male, this female played hard to get.Having heard her screams , he approached her She was not receptive and climbed down inside a space in the wall, the male followed ,however, he was still rejected. She appeared to "tease " him by encouraging and calling him only to then fendi him off. He persevered and they moved out on to the beach and he persevered with his advances before temporarily losing interest and trotted off together along the shore
