Helena Kristel, Masked Booby adult and juvenile - dinner time (ANIMAL & NATURE 2025)

In March 2025 I spent two weeks on Norfolk Island, a small Australian island in the South Pacific. This was the first time I had seen Masked Booby birds and I loved being able to see and photograph them. They were located along the cliffs at the end of a small lane near Anson Bay. I was delighted to spend time watching the birds both on the ground and flying overhead. There were very young white fluffy chicks, juvenile and adult birds. I had watched this juvenile off to one side on its own but was photographing other birds when all of a sudden, the parent landed. I had been sitting on the ground but could not get a good view of the action that I was aware was happening. I stood up and quickly shot a series of images of the juvenile feeding from its parent. It was a fascinating experience and one that I very much value. The juvenile had its dinner.
