Ngaire Hart, Japan in Winter (TRAVEL 2025)

My trip to Japan was specifically to see the snow Monkeys. It reached - 10 Celcius, a winter wonderland with snow 10" high. Mount Fuji was a fine snow capped vision on a clear day. The Snow Monkeys were just that snowed upon. At the Wasbi Farm all the plants were frozen and the wheel had icicles on it. The bridge to Shirakawofo UNESCO World Heritage village despite the cold attracted hundreds of people and the only way to see it was on this narrow, slippery bridge. The thatched roofs were buried under thick snow.
