Robert Matthews, Indian Ocean View (SINGLE SHOT 2025)

An infrared view of the Indian Ocean from City Breach, Perth, Western Australia. Using a Fujifilm x100vi camera, Acros film simulation, Hoya R72 IR filter and very high ISO - this scene transforms into a surreal dreamscape. The trees glow with an ethereal whiteness, the sand takes on a luminous tone, and the sea remains a deep, anchoring contrast. The effect creates an almost otherworldly moment, as if the permanent public art sculptures are not only watching the ocean but also standing sentinel between reality and imagination. Blurring the line between art and environment, the figures mirror our own quiet contemplation of sea and sky.
