Michael Hodson, Great Ocean Road: Four Movements (BLACK & WHITE 2025)
This series explores the Victoria Surf Coast through the lens of a Mamiya C220 on Ilford FP4+ film. From the spontaneous joy of youth suspended above the Erskine River to the stoic permanence of Cape Otway Lighthouse, these images trace the relationship between humanity and the Southern Ocean's edge. Footprints vanish into hidden coves while ancient limestone stacks stand sentinel against the waves—each frame a meditation on presence, absence, and the eternal dialogue between land and sea. Shot entirely on medium format film, the series embraces the tactile quality of analog photography to capture both the raw power and subtle intimacy of this rugged coastline.
