Kate Friebe, Glottis exposure (SINGLE SHOT 2025)
Occasionally pelicans invert their throat and stretch it over their neck and chest in order to stretch and rearrange mouth and throat tissues in a process known as glottis exposure. It is quite something to see them stretch their long neck and beak vertically into the air and then fold the neck back down again with the mouth and throat tissues stretched out over the neck!
