When the walls I built to survive finally start to loosen. When someone shows up with patience instead of anger. They provide safety instead of silence. It lives in the small, ordinary moments, the quiet listening, the promises kept without feeling the doubts. It’s in the beginning of the undoing of all the self loathing and self doubt. It’s allowing the softening of the places I swore would stay hard forever. It’s believing that trust begins when I stop rehearsing my exit and allowing myself to begin to believe that maybe, just maybe, they mean what they say. This series is inspired with permission from Julian Kingma from an image called "Kel & Willem" from his series "Last summer days"
