Mike Foo, Foggy at the Akashi Bridge (TRAVEL 2026)
After decades of studies and construction, the Akashi bridge was completed in 1998. At that time, it was the longest suspension bridge ever built. The bridge spans 4km across the Awaji strait, connecting the mainland from Kobe to Awaji island. I was instantly overwhelmed by its towering presence when I first saw it. In the pictures, we can see Awaji island hidden under a thick fog. In the foreground, a number of local folk have come early in the morning to fish under the bridge.
