Sim Chong, Flax Dances (ANIMAL & NATURE 2025)
This series of four photographs captures the flax plant through the expressive technique of intentional camera movement (ICM), transforming its natural form into a dance of light, colour, and motion. Each frame blurs the boundary between plant and painterly abstraction, as swaying lines and soft hues mimic the fluid rhythm of flax moving in the wind. The flowing textures and vivid tones evoke a sense of movement and grace, as if the flax is not just a plant rooted in the earth, but a living dancer caught mid-performance. Through this dynamic visual approach, the photos invite the viewer to experience the flax not simply as a subject, but as a feeling in motion.
