Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre is one of Australia’s most iconic natural wonders. This vast salt lake is usually dry but occasionally will fill with floodwaters from QLD and NSW. As water fills the lake, the normally white salty landscape changes colour due to salt loving algae and bacteria. Colours can range from pink and orange hues through to aqua blue. Natural formations also create distinct patterns and images in the landscape. One such formation is known as the Lady of the Lake. Located at the southern end of Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre, the Lady appears to watch over the sacred salt lake.
