Amanda Clarke, Echoes Behind the Wire (TRAVEL 2025)
Captured within the haunting remains of a former Vietnam War camp, these images speak of confinement, endurance, and the silent weight of history. The coiled barbed wire spirals into a vanishing point, a visual metaphor for journeys halted and freedoms denied. The long, empty barracks stretch endlessly toward a distant door marked 13, evoking the tension between entrapment and the faint glimmer of escape. A rusted, claustrophobic cell stands as a stark reminder of human fragility in the face of systemic oppression. Through the lens of travel, these photographs invite reflection not just on the landscapes we cross, but on the invisible borders—political, cultural, and personal—that shape the stories we carry home.
