Amanda Clarke, Contours of the Coast (LANDSCAPE 2025)
Artistic Statement: These landscapes of Vietnam’s waters reveal a dialogue between nature’s vastness and the traces of human presence. Cable lines slice the sky, guiding the eye toward distant islands, while fishing villages sprawl organically along the shoreline, their green patches a testament to life’s persistence. Waves crash and swirl, sculpting the sand into fleeting textures, while objects—like the bottle on the beach—become quiet markers of time passing. In these frames, the landscape is not static; it breathes, shifts, and holds the layered stories of sea, land, and those who live between them.
