Rosie Lang, Circular Motifs on the Keihan Line (TRAVEL 2026)

The elevated commute, a brutalist celebration of circular geometries in Kyoto's Uji Station; designed by Hiroyuki Wakayabashi. Constructed in 1995, with notions of futuristic optimism, Uji station cinematically transports its occupants not just between destinations, but through time - to a place at the intersection between architectural modernity and tradition. Cinestill 35mm film was utilised as the medium to best capture transition between arched spaces of this operational train station, amplifying the experience of transportation for the everyday passenger.
