Emma Parker, Burrowing Bees of Western Australia (ANIMAL & NATURE 2025)
The short life of the burrowing bees in western australia is fascinating, they rely on one type of flower for food, and the female lives for a short period of time - during which she tidies the burrow constantly by pushing the tiny rocks into groups around the entrance, places nectar into the burrow which she collects from the purple flowers, it is a constant state of activity for the short period she is alive for before she becomes prey to the scanvengers that wait around the burrows
