Kate Powick, Birds, Cairns Mudflats (ANIMAL & NATURE 2025)

Taken as the tide was coming in on Cairn's waterfront. The birds shown are pied stilts (with red legs) and egrets, the former seemed to be happy standing around in the rising waters, the egrets (one particularly) seemed a little hungrier and were wandering around looking for fish. It is easy to malign these mudflats, but given the opportunity to stop and watch for awhile there is a lot more going on that I had realised.
