Julia Spratt, Between Arrivals and Departures (SINGLE SHOT 2026)

A quiet moment at Central Station, Brisbane. While the train waits at the platform, a lone passenger walks towards the camera, caught somewhere between arriving and leaving. The converging lines of the platform, train and ceiling draw the eye through the station, while the warm light inside the carriage contrasts with the harder surfaces around it. For me, the image captures something familiar about railway stations: they are places of movement, but also of brief pauses. Everyone is going somewhere, and for a moment, their journeys cross.
