Kellie Bird, Beauty in Simplicity (LANDSCAPE 2026)

I never get tired of the simplicity of those early morning moments, watching the first colours of sunrise emerge over a landscape. This collection was captured over several mornings at Lake Bonney, South Australia, where each morning brought its own unique display of light and colour. The dead trees scattered along the shoreline create striking compositions that are never quite the same, transforming with every change in light, reflection, and season. Together, these four images celebrate the quiet beauty that can be found by slowing down and appreciating nature's simplest moments. The final monochrome image was captured on an overcast morning, proving that dramatic light isn't always necessary to create a compelling photograph. Instead, the conditions revealed the intricate textures of what lay beneath the surface, offering a different perspective on the same landscape while remaining true to the collection's theme of finding beauty in simplicity.
