Hugh Percival, Australian Orchid Fluorescence (ANIMAL & NATURE 2025)

Among the most unique and unusual of Australia's native plants, our orchid species exhibit striking shapes and colours, and can be either highly elusive or very showy. I capture orchids at night under UV light to discover their natural fluorescence - often the reproductive parts of the flowers will glow brightly, hinting at the way they attract particular pollinators and form complex links with the environment around them.
