Brian Sellick, Animal and Insect Behaviour (ANIMAL & NATURE 2026)

1. A Chocolate Argus butterfly doing a scent dance around the female. I was hanging up washing when I noticed the butterflies and fortunately was able to grab my camera and get some images of the dance. It was such a great moment to experience. 2. Two male Victorias Riflebirds displaying to each other, a unique photo as it seems as if they are giving each other a "high five". Overcast conditions plus the rainforest made for some tricky photography. 3. A Little Kingfisher perched on a lily flower shortly after catching a small fish. Not the easiest bird to photograph due to its size and most of the time it liked to sit in the shade. I positioned myself where I hoped it would land and fortunately it worked out. 4. A juvenile Black-necked Stork was "herding" fish into shallower water in a flooded field by prancing around with its wings open. Once the fish was in more shallow water, the stork with strike quickly and grab it. I spent many hours watching this juvenile and the two adults hunting, it was quite a spectacle. The morning sun catching the colours beautifully.
